John Lithgow gets into 'Dog Fight'

After dealing with highly intelligent primates in "Rise of the Planet of the Apes," John Lithgow is transitioning to highly unintelligent politicians in the cast of Warner Bros. "Dog Fight." Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis star as two rival politicians running for a congressional seat in a small North Carolina district election. Jay Roach ("Austin Powers," "Meet the Fockers") is helming with Jason Sudeikis, Dylan McDermott, Sarah Baker and Katherine LaNasa also set to co-star. Chris Henchy wrote the script with Shawn Harwell. Ferrell and Adam McKay are producing through Gary Sanchez Prods. along with Roach via his Everyman Pictures banner. Galifianakis will also produce. Lithgow, repped by WME, can be seen next in the untitled Judd Apatow comedy and is currently on a book tour for his autobiography. Contact Variety Staff at news@variety.com
